About the Bees

All of our bees are Minnesota Hygienic unless otherwise stated. We are selling and delivering bees to Fontana Kansas, Adrian Missouri, Topeka Kansas, Manhattan Kansas, Wichita Kansas, Columbia Missouri, Springfield Missouri, Joplin Missouri, and Saint Louis Missouri.

Minnesota Hygienic Italians were developed by Dr. Marla Spivak at the University of Minnesota Bee Lab.

These bees are bred to have a high degree of hygienic behavior known to be effective against diseases of the brood such as American foulbrood and chalkbrood.

Minnesota Hygienic bees resist these diseases and mites by detecting diseased or mite-infested brood and quickly removing the infected brood from the nest.

The removal of the pathogen before it is infectious limits disease transmission, and removal of mite- infested pupae reduces the reproductive success of the mites.
